On November 14th, 2002 two members of the North Star Search And Rescue Unit, recieve the Special Hero's Award from
the American Red Cross; ( Pine Tree Chapter ).
(Chief ) Randy Michaud was awarded for saving an animals life twice during this years CAN-AM Sled Dog Race.
( Asst. Training Officer ) Cpt. Jason Monarca was awarded for saving Mr. Larry Murphy's life during the
CAN-AM Sled Dog Race earlier this year.
The American Red Cross ( Pine Tree Chapter ) located in Presque Isle, Maine holds the Hero's Breakfast each year
during the month of November. This breakfast is to recognize those that go above and beyond normal activities to help
someone in need. Each year the American Red Cross honors these individuals or units.
