Becoming a Member

We are always looking for people interested in joining our organization.

Who Can Join?

We invite anybody interested in the issues and topics we focus our efforts on to join. Members must have reached the age of 16, and must be able to dedicate enough time to participate and make a difference in the organization.

Benefits of Joining

There are several benefits to becoming a member of our organization. Our members are close friends and we have a great time when we get together. Of course we also have a common interest, and we hope to further our cause. 
 
Individuals that join our unit all get the following training at no cost to them whenever possible.
 
FUNSAR Certification
BASAR Certification
Ground Searcher Certification
SAR-TECH 1, 2, 3, Certification
Field Team Leader Certification
Disaster Services Certification
First Aid / CPR Certification
Pet First Aid Certification
 
The following is what we train for consistantly:
 
Ground Search Techniques
Winter Rescue
Water Rescue
Technical Rescue
Mounted Rescue
ATV Resuce
Air Rescue
 
We have the following teams that a member can choose to be on.
 
Mounted Rescue ( Using Horses )
ATV Rescue  ( Using All Terrain Vehicles )
Ground Search ( Walking the wooded and fields area )
K-9 Team ( using tracking dogs, air scent dogs, or cadaver dogs )
Air Search Team ( Flying with a pilot as a spotter )
Hot Shot Team ( Wildland Fire Fighting Team )
Medical Team ( Strictly for EMT, Paramedics, Doctors, Nurses )
 

How Can You Join?

To join we need a completed application and an updated physical from your doctor. You must have a desire to learn new things, and a desire to work and play in an outdoor atmosphere.  Membership into this unit cost $ 25.00 a year.  For more information please look at the members page or contact us for more information and a copy of the application. You may also just come to a meeting.  Our meetings are held the 2nd Monday of every month at the American Red Cross building located in Presque Isle, Maine.  Meetings usually run for about 2 hours, and they begin at 6:00pm.
